A Note from Jane
Today is our company birthday! I really can’t believe it, Jane Win, the brand that we have built up from just a dream, is 7 years old. I can remember the launch so clearly, I was nervous but also so proud. I had very dear friends and, of course, family that had helped me get to the launch day…but no employees. Today, I am in our new showroom (3000 square feet of Jane Win heaven) surrounded by a full team of spectacular people.
When I started Jane Win – all alone in my home office – I started with the strategy and the core values. I felt silly, formally writing down the values for the brand that had 8 coins and ZERO sales. Writing them down forced me to think of not that day, but a day years from then when we had a group of employees that understood what they meant and used them to guide decisions. Now that we have 15 people in the office, the core values MATTER. They guide the way we answer customer service, they guide how we evaluate the product we add to the line, they guide me in finding new people to join the team…I literally reference them every single day. Here are the words that I wrote on day one, and now hang proudly throughout our office:
I have realized that it’s important to the company, but also to me personally – to have values that guide me. I know that not everyone has the same values or may not be able to articulate them as clearly as we have chosen to…but values have gotten us where we are and will continue to be our guide for the future.
I know I am going to get in trouble with marketing for not talking holiday shopping in one of the precious emails before Christmas + Hanukkah SO, during this wild time, when you are shopping like mad and moving fast to get everything done…remember those small businesses or big businesses that align with your values. Support them. I am not saying this as a Jane Win hook to shop (lol) I swear, I just think – these things matter. The restaurant around the corner that hosts the high school sports team’s fundraiser, shop there! The cute shop who puts out a water dish for the dogs 😊, shop there. The big companies you see who make giving back a priority – shop there!
As the business grows sometimes the pressure can be a bit overwhelming – I know that sounds silly because A: it’s jewelry which is so fun and B: it’s me, Janie, the eternal optimist…but having a bigger company and more employees and a bigger showroom – you can imagine how that feels. I KNOW that with our core values at heart, we can do anything – they will guide us through the next 7! How do I know this? Well, I believe that you are quite literally – the company you keep. With the lovely, open, FUN customers that Jane Win has attracted, I know the next 7 years are going to be a ball! Cheers to our LUCKY 7th birthday and thank you a million times over for shopping the coins we love so much – we appreciate that we get to do what we love with you.
Sending tons of love and xx, Janie
