What inspired you to start Pamela Munson, and what gap did you see in the market that you felt compelled to fill?
Pamela Munson was inspired by a lifelong appreciation for craftsmanship and timeless design. My grandparents had a meaningful influence on me from an early age, instilling a love for beautifully made, enduring pieces and a life well-lived. After more than 15 years in the fashion industry at CHANEL, Oscar de la Renta and Bergdorf Goodman, I saw an opportunity to create handbags that felt both classic and considered. I wanted to design pieces for travel and everyday life that would hold their place in a woman’s wardrobe for years to come. There was a gap for accessories that felt refined yet relaxed, with a sense of ease and longevity.
Your pieces have such a timeless, vacation-ready feel. How would you describe the design philosophy behind Pamela Munson, and what inspires each collection?
Our designs are rooted in a classic sensibility. I want our handbags to be pieces you reach for season after season, timeless and effortless wardrobe staples. The handbags we design for getaways and vacations hold such special, lasting memories. My inspiration evolves each season, but is always grounded in classic design.
What is the bag you reach for most in your own closet?
Our Rattan Pearl Clutch is one of my favorite bags we’ve designed. It’s been in the collection for about five years and remains a best seller. For day, I love our Gardner Basket or the soon-to-launch Beach and Town Tote in a new size.
You are wearing our Lucky in Love Clover pendant, why did you pick this piece?
I’ve always loved clovers and the sentiment they represent of luck and good fortune. With the four-leaf clover, I like to think each leaf represents my three children and my husband.
