Jane Win Travel Guide: Palm Beach with Meg Braff

Jane Win Travel Guide: Palm Beach with Meg Braff

Posted by Jane PARADIS on

While settling into our Florida residency, we did what any insider would do - we asked Meg Braff, Founder and Designer of Meg Braff Designs, for her Palm Beach 411. Consider this your chic, sun-drenched guide to our favorite places, straight from the source. ☀️🌴

What is your go-to spot for a Palm Beach cocktail? Is it all about the drink, the room, or the people watching?

You can always count on Le Bilboquet and Swifty’s at The Colony Hotel for a bit of a scene, fun people watching and a great cocktail. I’m also dying to check out the new Tutto Mare the Royal Poinciana.

What’s your forever dinner spot - the insider place you return to again and again, no matter how many new restaurants open?

There is a great spot in West Palm Beach called La Sirena. It's a little bit under the radar, but the food is fantastic and worth the trip. There used to be a charming private dining room upstairs that I loved to book for special dinners.

The last-minute hostess gift you swear by? Where do you go when you want something thoughtful, beautiful, and effortless?

I keep a variety of fun embroidered cocktail napkins in my gift closet, and love to give a set that feels appropriate to the holiday we are celebrating, or that relates to an interest of my hostess.

Where do you splurge in Palm Beach?? And what makes it truly worth it? A memorable meal, a favorite shop, an experience, or something else entirely?

I have a weakness for all things Pucci, which is a splurge. But honestly there is a true spectrum of shopping options here, and mixing it up really works. Besides apparel and accessories, Palm Beach is a great destination for interior design and home decor; I love shopping at both of Alessandra Branca’s boutiques, and stop in regularly at Aerin Lauder's shop to see what's new. Near my store on Georgia Avenue in West Palm Beach we have a lot of great neighbors and more design shops opening all the time. Casa Gusto, Authentic Provence, Danielle Rollins, Eclectic Patina and Mrs. Fairfax are just a few of many on Georgia Ave worth checking out.

What’s one Palm Beach spot that still feels like a hidden gem - even for people who think they know the island inside and out?

All the little Vias off of Worth Avenue are so fun to explore—even though you are steps from all the major designer shops, the winding pathways leading to smaller boutiques make it feel like a special experience and I guarantee you’ll discover something unique. I also love taking visiting guests to the garden at The Society for the Four Arts— it's a beautifully designed and maintained garden, and open to the public. The Four Arts also has lectures and events almost every day. The Mounts Botanical Garden is also high on my list of places to visit if you enjoy horticulture.

Where do you send visitors who want a taste of “old Palm Beach” charm? Is there a place that captures the town’s timeless, layered spirit for you?

The Ann Norton Sculpture Garden and House in the El Cid neighborhood has a wonderful old Florida feel, as does the Flagler Museum, Henry Morrison Flagler’s home ‘Whitehall,” on a grander scale. The Flagler is having a big moment with its new director and they are opening its doors to so many exciting events and lectures.

Renato’s restaurant off Worth Avenue still has a lot of classic Palm Beach charm white tablecloths, waiters in bow ties, old school decor and delicious Italian food.

Every place has its uniform - where do La Vie Style House caftans fit into your Palm Beach rotation? Poolside afternoons, cocktails at sunset, or barefoot at home with friends?

I love La Vie Style House! I have quite a few of their pieces, long and short embroidered and lace caftans, they are great for cocktail parties or as a pool cover up, and you can dress them up with heels and jewelry for a festive night out.

Join Jane Win for a trunkshow at Meg Braff Designs during our Florida Residency. We will have our new Spring collection and classic Jane Win favorites for you to shop. I hope you stop by - we can't wait! 💋
