It’s hard to believe we are celebrating 8 years since we started selling coins! It feels like I have been doing this forever (lol in a good way), but also that we are just getting started. Jane Win is a Sagittarius, if a company could have a zodiac sign. The company was launched (“born”) on December 5th, 2017 which lands us under the stars of The Archer, the symbol for Sagittarius. Believe it or not, all the characteristics of Jane Win match those of a classic Sag.
Optimistic + Lucky The ruling planet of Jupiter brings a “something good is always coming” energy. This makes me smile to read because I believe I was, and Jane Win was, born under lucky stars. We wake up smiling, looking forward to the coming days.
Independent This is OBVIOUSLY true; it is a part of our values. We do things ‘our way’. As we grow and Jane Win gets pressure to follow a trend, this can lead to self-doubt. Kate (our amazing company President) and I had someone ask us last week, “What happens when coin jewelry is out?”…which we honestly thought was such a silly question. Jane Win is about connection, the words, the MEANING that you are drawn to – that comes in the form of a coin, or a petite embellished charm, or a shield. The meaning – the connection – that is so real and it will never go out of style.
Idealists Big dreams, big philosophies. Bright, warm, confident. Needless to say, this trait is imperative as a start-up company…there is a mix of dreaming big AND reality that you need to be successful.
Strong The one descriptor that is missing is STRONG. Jane Win started with 8 coins and has grown, over the 8 years…grown through crazy crazy times. It felt like Covid was the ‘worst’ thing that could happen to a small business, and now we are hit with tariffs and a spike in gold and silver pricing that is crippling for so many jewelry companies. Strength is a word that really is the FOUNDATION of our growth over 8 years. We are strong, we are resilient – and we marry that with all the fun words above!
When looking at what makes Jane Win who we are, it’s really the people that bring it all to life. When I started the company, I had a vision for an incredible relationship with our customer (thanks to YOU that is a reality!). What I didn’t see coming was the joy I get from building a company of women working together to create beautiful jewelry that connects. My co-workers are unstoppable; they are smart and funny and down-to-earth. The REWARD in that has been a delightful surprise. At the launch party for Jane Win, we hung a giant American flag over the room because I was so proud to build a company here in the US, but I underestimated how big it would feel to create opportunity, provide good jobs with thoughtful core values…I just didn’t know how meaningful that would be for me personally.
While we have customers all over the US – shoutout to California and Texas for being top states that we ship Jane Win to – our hometown of Philadelphia has proven over and over that they will support their local ‘team’, whether it’s their local jewelry designer or the super bowl champs the eagles. I’m so happy to celebrate our 8th birthday with a BACK IN STOCK moment for our Original Eagle Coin 😊.
The other word I have to share as I jump from my desk to eat cake and toast with the team to 8 years? Gratitude. Yes, it is creativity and hard work that got us here, but it is YOU that felt that love, adores the words and the coins, wears us, and shares us (holiday gifting!). It makes me cry typing this…I just thank you so so genuinely from the bottom of my heart for your love of what we love. Cheers to birthday number 8 and MANY MORE!
