Note from Jane: Our New Limited-Edition Jane Win Silk Scarf

Posted by Jane PARADIS on

Born from one of our original Jane Win prints, our first silk scarf celebrates the art that has been part of our world from the very beginning.

Growing up my dad would give me a silk scarf from Hermès every year - well once I was about 14 years old anyway. One year, we attended an event at the Hermès store in Boston where they had flown in their artists for a special demonstration of how the scarves were printed. The craftsmanship, the color, the artistry behind every detail…completely up my alley. I was HOOKED.

Fast-forward to my mid-thirties when I became the Print Director at Lilly Pulitzer. I had joined the company to help launch Accessories...bags, scarves, jewelry and more! But I adored the team of artists so much and I think I more or less strong-armed the CEO into letting me get involved with one of Lilly’s most precious resources: original art.

When I started Jane Win, I missed being surrounded by artists. I missed the paint, the color, the beautiful mess of creating something from nothing. Whenever I can, I find a reason to support original artwork.

Before we had even created our first coin, I worked with a friend to design our first packaging print. And I was, shall we say, very specific: a loose watercolor hand, bugs, snakes, butterflies—and instead of perfect flowers, my beloved weeds. Queen Anne’s lace, clover and ferns deserved center stage. And butterflies! They are everywhere at Jane Win: in our showroom, throughout our displays and across all of our beautiful printed boxes.

So what took us so long to put all these pieces of my history together?

The prints on our precious gift boxes have become such an important part of the Jane Win world that they simply had to become something soft, silky and wearable: our very first silk scarf.

I could never choose a favorite Jane Win print, but this one is certainly up there. Big, beautiful FREE butterflies float across a field of our signature “weeds”—joyful, wild and just a little unexpected.
Is there a better way to be?
The best part is how many ways there are to wear it. I love it tied around the neck, wrapped around the wrist like jewelry or knotted onto a favorite bag. And I especially adore the way people are wearing scarves around the waist to finish a skirt or dress. Wear it however YOU love it most. This scarf is limited-edition and, I hope, the first of many beautiful Jane Win artworks we transform into something beautiful for you.
