A Note from Jane: Spring Breaking to Europe

A Note from Jane: Spring Breaking to Europe

Note from Jane

I am always traveling…this spring I average a trip a week. The good news for me, is that Jane Win (and my personal life!) take me to the best places. My youngest Tiki is in Barcelona so we jetted over for a long weekend. Here are my must-packs and our itinerary…

Spring everywhere holds unpredictable weather, and in Barcelona we needed a light jacket/rain coat every day. It’s funny – having a stylish light jacket is never top of anyone’s list and then you find yourself wearing something too heavy or – not having anything. I LOVE a light jacket and this spring trenches are trending. Here are my favorites:

MUST HAVE comfortable shoes. We walked 20k steps a day – and loved it…but you can only love it if you have great shoes. YES OF COURSE there are sneakers, but having some chic ballet flats are also a must.

Warning: DO NOT wear athletic clothing in Europe, you feel like a klutz. Instead it’s jeans, wider leg pants, and soon as the weather gets warmer the MUST HAVE pant of the season, the pedal pusher (I love!):

Jewelry? YES OF COURSE. The entire time I could not take off our sundial coin. I just – the feeling of visiting my 20 year old daughter in this cool city – that I lived in when I was her age. I just can’t tell you how precious it all felt.

Here are the spots we hit in Barcelona. We absolutely LOVED the city. I had not been to Barcelona since I traveled abroad when I was 20 😊 so I rediscovered the museums, all things Gaudi – and the tapas (it’s a foodie city!)

Must Visit Churches and Museums:

Sagrada Familia, the most famous landmark designed by Gaudi 9and still not finished), I highly recommend getting a tour. It is breathtaking.

AS an art-history-buff and lover of all art, I loved the Picasso Museum and the Miro Museum. I have to say, if you don’t have a ton of time, I like the Miro Museum MORE, and the view of the city from the grounds if phenomenal.

Eat:

We LOVE to take a cooking class when we travel, I cannot recommend this Paella class more highly, it was SO FUN. Full video available!

Tappas everywhere, one fun non tapas restaurant was Gala, incredible music and vibe, food is Asian-italian!

Stay:

We stayed at El Palace and loved it. it is the old Ritz and while a tad ‘worn’ the service was exceptional. The bar and breakfast were old world and special. Something you don’t experience in our busy world anymore.

Where next? I just went to Charlotte and next up is Atlanta and Chicago. I might slip a trip to the Bahamas if I can to celebrate my 10th wedding anniversary to Mr. Jane Win, fingers crossed!  Please come see us on the road 💋
