Summer = lavender, layers of white & gold, reading, needlepoint and fresh veggies 💋
I KNOW, the summer solstice has already happened, summer has started but…right now…it’s ON! Of course I love the 4th of July but I can’t think short term – lets talk long summer days, let’s focus on living in the moment – the feeling of a summer that doesn’t end.
I know the rest of the world is sending out emails filled with red, white and blue but my summer dressing has a new color palette. I have always loved lavender, it’s one of our Jane Win logo colors – but in the summer this shade is special. In the summer a soft icy lavender is the CHICEST, makes your skin and entire complexion glow. If not in a shade of purple, I am wearing layers of white and sand, beige, off white…all together. The perfect white dress. The perfect beige-y wrap with a rattan bag and GOLD. These hues look so elevated with layers of gold necklaces, or a dainty gold necklace and a statement earring. My favorite new earrings are the Strong Mother of Pearl Waves, anything mother of pearl is magnetic with summer skin.
This sounds cliché, but the goal this summer is to have hobbies beyond work. Every summer on the lake I am taking long walks and playing tennis in the afternoon. This spring the tik tok addiction became a little too real and I was filling too much down time with my phone. This is a ‘creativity killer’. So I have a good stack of reading – I’m currently charging through Elin Hilderbrand’s latest The Hotel Nantucket. Stay tuned for a FUN Jane Win trip and trunk show to Nantucket in mid July where I will be at a dinner with Elin toasting a new book by Gray Malin. Glamorous! I have also started needlepointing again and am working on an eyeglass case before I make the coolest bracelet piece designed by my friend (and Jane Win addict) Anne Fisher. When she has the bracelets available for sale I will let you know for sure, they are a double wrap needlepoint snake! Of course I am also drawing more, sketching flowers and bugs that allow my brain to wander and dream-up the next new JW piece (we will have scarabs this fall!). I’m cooking more, using everything fresh and local (I made a strawberry-rhubarb heart shaped tarte for Mr. Jane Win last night and it was delicious!). It feels like a return to a part of me that my phone has tried to take away bit by bit infringing on my time.
