Guys. It’s VALENTINE’S DAYYYYYYYYY. Not really, not yet but – it is on my mind. I am going to tell you all over again why it is my favorite holiday. And before I get into it, if you don’t like Valentine’s Day or think it is a hallmark holiday – I don’t care. I promise to still like you but – come on. This is all about fun. Pink and red, hearts, candy. Telling people you love them. Flowers. If there is a GRINCH for Valentine’s Day he would hate all those things (he would HATE….LOVE!). I don’t want to LIVE IN A WORLD that hates those things. Have I convinced you? How about this…
HUMOR ME if you have been reading this blog for years and know all my stories, but the reason Valentine’s Day is my favorite holiday is because of elementary school. I would go to the basement and choose the perfect shoe box (that my mom diligently saved), I would make a special trip to the Kings Way Pharmacy around the corner from my house in Augusta, GA to get pink and red construction paper. I would draw my name on the outside and decorate it with some stickers, but mostly my own drawings of hearts and swirly words. I did not play it cool AT ALL. I wanted to have the best box on my desk. Then I would start individual cards for each person in my class. Using my best handwriting I would fill out the names of each person. My favorite gift was football pencils (I would tape them to each envelope), and the boys would trade them at recess. And I would not get the professional teams - I got the college pencils with UGA and Clemson…and my crush Jim loved Clemson, so I would always try and keep those so he would have to trade me. TWISTED? Maybe.
The first time I was burned by LOVE? My first kiss. I wanted to kiss JIM, but I think Rebecca was with him and I kissed Lee Brigham. It was fine but…I will literally always have a soft spot for Jim.
Second time I was burned by love? Hmmmm, my wedding to my first husband was ON Valentine’s Day. GEESH, you would think that my marriage imploding would put me off the holiday but nooooo, I bounced right back. Actually, that’s not completely true, I was devastated - but then in my year of divorced sadness I would take a long run every day and dream about meeting a new guy. Well – I think I manifested Mr. Jane Win, so it all worked out in the end.
So, despite a somewhat rocky road, I am, and Jane Win is, a champion of Valentine’s Day. Of course, we are known for our coins, but we are also known as being the Queen of Hearts. Here is a link to every single heart we have – it’s time to start shopping for our favorite holiday 💋
I am writing from sunny Florida. We have a trunk show tonight from 4-6 at Periwinkle in Delray Beach, next week we have a photoshoot and trunk show at Matilda’s in Stuart, FL. It’s heaven being here. I have been doing a little shopping (don’t tell MJW) – here is everything I have packed and purchased for our ‘season’ down south.
Sending love and xx, Janie
