Sarah Bray Bermuda x Jane Win:
THE INTERVIEW

We are delighted to launch our FIRST destination coin with our friend Sarah Bray. Sarah and I first met in Palm Beach on a Hinkley boat for a holiday cruise, and our love of chic, classic style, color and sunshine has kept us connected. Sarah Bray has had a spectacular career writing for House Beautiful, ELLE Décor, Town & Country and Hamptons – her style is flawless. Recently she moved to Bermuda for LOVE, which here at JW we appreciate immensely! Sarah fell in love with a guy, and then she fell in love with the Island of Bermuda. I have spent some VERY fun vacations exploring Bermuda, and while our trip this year was cancelled, Sarah and I are bringing a bit of Bermuda to you in our favorite way – through jewelry. What better time than the sunniest days of summer to hear from Sarah on her favorite Bermuda locations...

Jane: Sarah! This is so so exciting. We have been working on this coin since before Corona – how can that be?!? I am so excited to launch this with you and thought our readers would love to hear more about your favorite Bermuda hot-spots and hideaways. But first, what brought you to Bermuda?

Sarah: I fell in love with a Bermudian! It’s a crazy love story, but I met my fiancé on Bumble. He was getting his PHD at Columbia University in New York City and I was working as a writer at Town & Country Magazine. While we had a wonderful life and loved our tiny West Village apartment, he really wanted to escape the hustle and bustle and settle in his beautiful home country of Bermuda. And, as a water-loving Pisces it certainly wasn’t difficult to convince me to move! But really, after living in New York City for a decade hustling to make ends meet, we were both ready for a more relaxed, island life.

Jane: Now let’s talk fashion, is there a Bermuda ‘style’ of dressing – and most importantly signature jewelry look? (would love to show off your caftans and hats here!)

Sarah: Everything is so relaxed in Bermuda! There’s oftentimes no air conditioning (just the ocean breeze!) and it’s really humid, so heavy makeup and a blowout are just not going to work. I keep it simple! I let my hair dry naturally and often throw it in a low bun and as for make-up I wear tinted moisturizer only, and you have to hide behind your shades during the day, so forget eye makeup. You get to go glam with jewelry and fancy yet fuss-free dresses, like caftans. I designed my caftans to be worn from the beach to cocktail parties, because that’s how we really live. You need something chic to toss over a swimsuit that dresses it up majorly in a second. I love embracing that boho barefoot look, and jewelry is a key element. I am obsessed with the layered charm necklace look. It’s so collected and special. I wear a mix of seashell charms, a diamond heart necklace, antique lockets and my Jane Win coin all together on different strands. Sometimes, I have six different necklaces on at the same time! When I go all out with my necklaces, everyone is curious about where they are from and I love telling each of the necklaces’ unique story.

Jane: OK some quick insider information….what is your favorite:

Beach: Cooper’s Island Beach (grab a provisions at Miles Market for a picnic on these isolated shores)
Restaurant: 1609 at The Princess Marina or the outdoor restaurant at The Loren

Bar: The Terrace Bar at The Rosewood Bermuda
Hotel: Coral Beach Club and The Rosewood
Shopping: Tuck Shop and Atelerie
Secret that no one knows about Bermuda: You see an entirely other side of Bermuda when you are on a boat! I would rent a darling pastel colored boat from Bermuda Electric Boat Company and explore Hamilton Harbour and Paradise Lakes.

Everyone must explore Sarah’s website to shop her gorgeous hats and caftans. We are obsessed.

With that in mind, we have pulled together some of our favorite items that remind us of the pink sands of Bermuda. Have fun shopping!
