DIARY INSTALLMENT 30: AN OPTIMISTIC PERSON, A SMALL BUSINESS, AND A MOM. THIS IS MY DIARY OF SHARING, IN HOPES THAT WE CREATE A SENSE OF COMMUNITY AND STICK TOGETHER THROUGH THIS UNIMAGINABLE TIME.
I think I am going to have to change the header to these diary entries soon. We are making it through – I see the light at the end of the tunnel for this crazy year of covid we have been through together. As I mentioned last week we are TRAVELING, and I was in Dallas to launch the most incredible coin we have done in our SHARE THE LOVE Series. While I am feeling so much ‘good’ I wanted to take a moment to stop and talk about how Jane Win gives back.
One of our core values (that are truly the foundation for our company), is that when we succeed we give back. Since I started Jane Win I have worked to build a profitable business - for many reasons – one of which is so that we can give back. Our giving is focused on education. Internationally we support Girl Rising and locally we sponsor the ABC House. I have found that if I try and support all causes, we feel like we are doing too little and we don’t see an impact. That all said…I literally want to give to everyone in need. No exaggeration.
With that in mind we started a series of coins that we work on with a charitable organization that moves beyond our focus on education, the first being the Vitality coin we just did for Alzheimer’s research. We did this coin in conjunction with a fashion editor and a cause that was close to her heart. This week we will be donating over $3000 to the Alzheimer’s Drug Discovery Fund. This was just a test to see if we could make a meaningful donation to her cause and we are pleased with how it went!
When our friend Blish came to us with the concept for a coin we knew – 100000 million billion percent that we were on board. Blish lost her son Cooper when he was just 10 months old due to a pulmonary disorder. Blish told us about his spirit – and how despite his discomfort he carried on through tests and treatments… he was gentle, patient and brave every step of the way.
This spirit, Cooper’s Spirit, is what we hope to capture in some tiny way in the Cooper Connor Coin. The sails symbolize his little lungs, the boat positivity and the sun – rays of hope.
While there is so much meaning behind this coin – it is also on a more basic level – just a great summery design. Our first sailboat – very nautical and perfect as we think of the sunny days of summer ahead.
Sometimes you run across women in business that just – have your vibe. Blish is one of those people. She introduced us to the women behind Veronica Beard – and they are those people. Creative, driven, making waves in their industry, and giving back. We were over-the-moon excited to launch the coin at Veronica Beard in Dallas and we cannot wait to take the trunk show on the road again…meet us in Chicago June 17th to celebrate Veronica Beard’s new store. Veronica Beard is donating a percent of sales that day to the Cooper Connor Fund – we will have the JW line – and the Cooper Connor Coin.
40% of net profits will be donated to the Cooper Connor Endowed Fund for Pulmonary Research.
xx Jane
