Jane Win Girl Gang: Pride + Groom

A Note from Jane

Stop scrolling and grab your leashes - this is not your normal Jane Win Girl Gang. It’s time to focus on for must-have accessories (beyond jewelry) our beloved furry companions. We are thrilled to introduce you to Pride + Groom, the chicest dog grooming products in the market and TOP CHOICE for all of the Jane Win office dogs.

Of the 3 female founders of Pride + Groom, Heather, Regina and Jane…I have been friends with JANE (Jane’s stick together) for decades. We met in NYC as we were both starting our creative/fashion careers, Jane Wagman and I worked together on my first entrepreneurial venture called Buzz by Jane Fox. Lot’s of Jane’s happening here 😂.

Jane Wagman has always had the ultimate combination: The best taste - and a wicked sense of humor. It is no surprise that she has created such a fun, beautifully packaged, useful, elevated brand and product in Pride + Groom.
We are big fans of Pride + Groom. Why? If you follow us on Instagram you know we have a pack of office dogs…
Chloe, our Portuguese Water Dog is constantly playing in the stream that goes through our back yard and quite honestly, she stinks! Our favorite product for her is ‘the scent’ named appropriately, 'PROUD'
Lady, the Saint Bernard who runs the design team (owned by Rachel) tends to slober. A lot. Our top pick for her is 'The Swipe' 😉.

And then there’s Teddy. The wild and crazy Cavapoo PUPPY, the newest edition to the team who joined us with our President Kate - well he needs everything. He digs up the Jane Win front lawn and needs a bath desperately (shampoo of choice is ‘The Non Shedder’. He wants to play with ‘The Towel’. He gets a little spray of ‘The Leave In’ - Teddy gets the works!

If you have a furry friend we know you will love Pride + Groom as much as we do. Here’s a little something fun…enter our giveaway to get $500+ in Jane Win and Pride + Groom goodies.

xx Janie

Jane! We have known each other for a longggg time. For those who don’t know you, tell us a little bit about yourself. Where are you from, and how did you get your start?

We HAVE known each other a long time AND we share the same name and initials which I love. I am a born and bred New Yorker which people often find strange but for me it’s all I know. Who knew spending afternoons sitting on the Met steps all wasn’t normal. Yes, Gossip Girl fans that is exactly what we did and in fact a girl I know from high school was actually a writer on that show. I still live in NYC with my husband, 2 daughters and 4 dogs.

I got my start in magazines as a graphic designer. After graduating from college with an Art History degree and realizing I had no interest in working in a gallery, museum … I went to art school for graphic design. I quickly realized I love the creative problem solving of graphic design.

You have an incredibly robust and diverse career background. Graphic designer at Vogue, Art Director, and entrepreneur. How, and WHY did you start PRIDE+GROOM? What was your “aha” moment?

We all have so many lives! Anyone who starts off thinking they know where they are going to end up is most likely wrong. I worked in the art department of magazines for a long time which was a super fun place to be back in the day. When we all lived and died for the new issues of Vogue, Bazaar, Allure etc. to come out each month so we could see what was going on in the world. There was no internet! I left magazines when I became a mom which allowed me to work and do mom things. Actually, that is when I met you Jane (Janie), when I became design partners with a close friend of yours.

After 20 years of graphic design I started to get itchy for the next thing. My side hustle is dogs. I am involved in the animal welfare space sitting on the board of Animal Haven, a shelter in Soho, NYC. I knew my next life was in the dog space and started brainstorming with a friend of mine (now partner Regina) about what to do. We felt like there was a white space in the pet world when it came to grooming. Everything had been humanized from food and clothing to supplements and dog beds. But no one seemed to care that their dogs were getting bathed in chemicals and toxic ingredients and then sleeping in our beds. We modeled PRIDE+GROOM on a human beauty brand. Not all dogs have the same needs. For example, dogs who shed need different products than all the doodles. We wanted products that were not only NOT harmful but beneficial, amazing smelling and all-natural all wrapped up in beautiful packaging.

You wear the Jane Win PROTECT Coin. What drew you to this piece?

I have always loved snake jewelry. Maybe because they are so scary and so beautiful at the same time. I love all the Jane Win pendants and their messaging, but I was immediately drawn to the snake that says “Gardez Bien” (I also love a little high school French put to good use). I spend so much time flipping my necklaces over so they are facing the correct way. It was genius of you to put an equally beautiful and empowering message on the reverse side. Mine says “PROTECT” which makes me happy.

Proudest PRIDE+GROOM moment so far?
That would have to be getting chosen as one of Oprah’s Favorite Things 3 months after launching! It led to a million opportunities and sales and we are forever grateful.

A few quick-fire questions-

Favorite dog breed?
Chihuahua. It wasn’t until I fostered one during covid that I realized how funny and special they are. I now have 4 dogs – 2 chis and 2 golden doodles.

What is your #1 must-have in your purse?
Disposable tooth brush. Everyone makes fun of me but to me a quick tooth brushing is better than a shower.

Guilty pleasure TV binge?
Wow this one is hard for me as I am a HUGE tv watcher and nothing is too low for me - Survivor, Love is Blind, Love on the Spectrum… I could go on and on.
